Born a twin in Onitsha, on 13th September 1974 to Chief Lawrence and Mrs. Christiana Nwoye of Offianta Nsugbe in Anambra East L.G.A of Anambra state Ernest Annie Nwoye’s (Okwuluora) rise to the top echelon of Anambra State and National politics has been gradual and rewarding.

Ernest had his early education at Ugborimmili Primay School, Fegge, Onitsha where he obtained his First School Leaving. He attended Community High School, Nsugbe for his Junior Secondary education and finished his senior secondary education at Metropolitan Secondary School, Onitsha where he demonstrated outstanding academic excellence that immediately earned him admission into the prestigious Faculty of Law, of the University Of Nigeria, (Enugu Campus) in 1994. He bagged a Degree Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) in 1999.

Upon graduation, Ernest enrolled as a pupil counsel in the Law Firm of Awa Kalu SAN & CO, a commercial law firm in the heart of Lagos while waiting for his call-up for the mandatory National Youths Service Scheme. As a Youth Corp member, he was posted to Portiskum, Yobe State. He had his 2 weeks orientation in Yobe and within that short time, formed the Legal Aid Corp with fellow young Corp Counsels. He was later to be redeployed to Lagos State.

In Lagos, young Nwoye was accepted as a young counsel in the law firm of Ekwem & Ekwem (Barristers & Solicitors). He spent a year in the firm practicing law as well participating actively in Politics of his State, Anambra.

At the end of the one year mandatory service and pupilage in the law firm of Ekwem & Ekwem, Ernest was offered Associate position by several offices but he chose to stay with Ekwem & Ekwem. While in practice, he sought to further his education and applied for admission to study Masters in International Economic Law at the University of Warwick, United Kingdom. He got the admission and secured student visa to travel to UK.

By July 2002, while waiting to travel for his advanced education in Law, the then Anambra State Government, in appreciation of Nwoye’s political contribution and intellectual sagacity, appointed him as Deputy Chairman, Anambra East Local Government Councils at the age of 27. To take that office, he deferred his admission and assumed office.

By September, 2003, Nwoye travelled to the United Kingdom to study. His sojourn earned him both Masters in Corporate and Commercial Law; Post Graduate Diploma International Economic Law; Post Diploma in International Business Law and Post Graduate Certificate in Maritime Law from both University of Warwick and The University of London. After his studies, he spent additional 2 years working in UK before returning to Nigeria in 2006.

Upon his return, he registered his dream law firm: E – LAW & CO, with flair for corporate and commercial legal practice and consulting. A firm he heads as the Principal Partner till date.

Ernest is an astute Legal Practitioner, a naturally activist, a grass-root mobiliser, a consensus builder and a very consummate political strategist. He is easily at home with both the nobles and the ordinary folks even as he is quick to identify with the later as his primary constituency and, in his own words, ‘the focus of his foray into politics’. His love of people and desire to improve the lives of the down-trodden even at the risk of his personal interests marks him out as a pr of a professional different ilk.
